Youssef Abdel-Aziz and Marwa Alhodaby are current African Junior Champions and at the 3rd African Youth Games holding in Algiers, the Egyptian stars confirmed their supremacy in the singles event of the boys and girls categories.

In the boys’ event,Youssef Abdel-Aziz who was the flagbearer for Egypt at the games, was seeded number one and he did not drop a game apart from the 4-1 win he recorded against Nigeria’s Azeez Solanke in the quarterfinal tie. All his matches ended with 100 percent record.

In the final match against Tunisia’s BEN ATTIA Youssef, Youssef Abdel-Aziz was not troubled as he won convincingly at 11-1, 11-7, 11-2, 11-4.

The second seed – Tunisia’s BEN ATTIA had to settle for sliver which he described as golden to him. The silver won by the Tunisian was however celebrated across the social media by the Tunisia Table Tennis Association.

Unlike her compatriot – Marwa Alhodaby was made to work harder for her triumph in the girls’ singles from the group stage to the final. But as a true champion, the Egyptian teenager followed the footstep of Youssef Abdel-Aziz after defeating Tunisia’s BAKLOUTI Manel 11-8, 11-5, 11-8, 7-11, 11-7 to emerge as champion.

According to the President of African Table Tennis Federation (ATTF), Khaled El-Slahy, the players gave a good account of themselves with impressive performance from the participants.

24 boys from 24 countries and 21 girls from 21 countries competed in the singles events while the mixed doubles event will be concluded on July 24.
