In the last two years, 17-year-old Abir Hadj Salah has been part of the national senior and junior teams of Tunisia to major competitions within and outside Africa.

Her contribution to the team cannot be underestimated and this has always been what prompted her regular inclusion in the team.

Playing alongside Tunisian table tennis Olympian – Safa Saidani at the 2018 ITTF Africa Top 16 Cup in Kenya, Abir Hadj Salah set a quarterfinal target in her maiden outing at the continent’s prestigious championship.

“For now I am now 50 percent ready for the tournament. But before the competition I am sure I will be fully ready for the Kenyan contest,” Abir Hadj Salah said.

Despite the pedigree of players heading to Kenya, Abir Hadj Salah is setting a lofty ambition for herself. “I hope I can get to the quarterfinal of the competition.”

Abir Hadj Salah is not only optimistic that Tunisia would make it to the podium in the Central African nation. “Apart from my personal target, I think that Tunisia can make it to the podium.”

As a junior player, Abir Hadj Salah is eager to cause upset against the top players. “My target is to try and win tough matches particularly against top rated players. I hope to enjoy every moment of the competition in Kenya.”
