The rhythms from the three region on Cameroon resonated at the opening ceremony of the 2015 ITTF Africa Senior Cup as the traditional dancers thrilled spectators including the Cameroon Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Abdoum Garoua.

The rhythmic dancing step from the cultural group ignited the Multi-Purpose Sports Complex to herald the official commencement of the championship.

The title of the dance titled was Le Trophet  and it was a mixture of Sudanu Sahelieni (North), Bikuti and Ekang (Centre) and Bamiliki (West).

The minister welcomed the visitors to Cameroon, while urging them to enjoy the warm atmosphere in the city of Yaounde.

For the President, Africa Table Tennis Federation (ATTF), Khaled El-Salhy, the hosting of the competition confirmed the interest of the country in table tennis. “I must commend the government and the Ministry of Sport in Cameroon for staging the competition within a short notice of six months. We are grateful for this gesture and we hope that the best players will emerge to represent the continent at the World Cups,” he said.

In his welcome address, President, Cameroon Table Tennis Federation, Alfred Bagueka Assobo admitted that the tournament was made possible through the support the federation got from the Presidency. “This event has been possible thanks to the high support of our Head of State and President of the Republic of Cameroon, Pual Biya, who authorized and gave necessary means to enable the federation host this edition of the ITTF Africa Senior Cup in Yaounde. I also thank the minister of Sports and Physical Edcation who who gave all necessary technical support and financial means for the success of the event,” he said.
