As the ITTF African Junior & Cadet Championship enters day six, African giant, Egypt continues its dominance at the tournament holding in Algiers.

In the U-21 women’s singles, four Egyptian players made it to the semifinal stage while all the medals in the category will be won by the North Africans.

In the U-21 men’s singles, three of the semifinalists are Egyptians with Tunisia’s BEN YAHIA Kerem being the only outsider in the contest.

In the junior girls’ singles, three Egyptians except Algeria’s Sannah Lagsir made it to the semifinal stage of the competition.

Defending champion, Amira Yousry is one of the contenders for the title while last year’s runner’s up – Algeria’s Sannah Lagsir is also in contention. 2015 cadet champion, Mariam Alhodaby will also be aiming for the coveted title.

In the cadet event, the players that will represent the continent at the 2016 World Cadet Challenge in China have emerged with Nigeria’s Esther Oribamise and Egypt’s ABDELWAHAB Marwan topping the list.

Meanwhile, Nigeria’s Azeez Solanke who edged outnumber one seed in the junior boys’ singles, Egypt’s Karim Elhakem became the only Nigerian that will make the podium in the singles event of the competition.

In the quarterfinal he defeated Tunisia’s SAADAOUI Mootezz 4-2 to set up a semifinal match against Egypt’s RAHMOU Abdelrahman.

Also number two seed, Egypt’s RAHMOU Abdelrahman was shown the exit in the quarterfinal by Congo Brazzaville’s LIGNANDZI Michel. The tournament ends on Tuesday April 12 with the finals of the singles events.
