Allan Arnachellum is a face of table tennis in Mauritius and his contribution to the fortune of the sport in the Indian Ocean Island cannot be underestimated.

At 29, he represented Mauritius at various international tournaments since making his debut in 2005. Now after quitting as an athlete, the Mauritius Table Tennis Association (MTTA) has considered him as a coach for its junior players.

In a letter signed by the President of MTTA, Basanta Lala, Allan Arnachellum would work with MTTA National Technical Director to groom players.

“Following the meeting of the Mauritius Table Tennis Association, we took the decision to
nominate you as the new National Coach (boys and girls). You will be working together with Mr Cedric Rouleau, the National Technical Director. For more details, please note that you may report to Mr Desscann, the Technical Manager. Congratulations for this new challenge and we think that you have clearly the capacity to improve performances of our athletes,” the letter stated.

An excited Allan Arnachellum believes being considered for this role has humbled him. “Being given this position now is a great achievement and indeed a huge responsibility but I believe that with the full collaboration , hardwork of my team, continuous guidance and support of my technical manager and the MTTA, this task will be an easy one,” he said.

To carry out the tasks, Arnachellum said: “I have identified the strengths of my team during the previous Indian Ocean Games and we will focus on that and work harder to achieve better results for future competitions.”
