Farah Abdel-Aziz on July 9 decided to put table tennis aside to hook up with her heartthrob and join the league of married table tennis stars in Egypt.

The 25-year-old member of the Egyptian national female team to the last World Team Championship in Sweden, looked no further for her partner as she has decided to settle down into holy matrimony with a basketballer – Assem El-Gendy.

The wedding turned out to be a gathering of table tennis family in Egypt led by ITTF Executive Vice President, Dr Alaa Meshref including ATTF President, Khaled El-Salhy and host, President of Egypt Table Tennis Federation (ETTF), Mr. Moutaz Ash.

Despite competing few weeks ago at the Mediterranean Games in Spain, Farah Abdel-Aziz was joined at the colourful occasion held in Cairo by her teammates including the new Mediterranean Games champion – Dina Meshref.

Others include expectant mother – Nadeen El-Dawlatly, Reem El-Eraky, Galila Nasser and Lagos-bound Yousra Helmy.

According to ATTF boss, the wedding party was a mixed celebration between national teams and ETTF for the bride and the basketball family of the groom.

The coaches were not left out of the event which was also used to celebrate Farah Abdel-Aziz.
