To freshen up our writing skills, the Phi Mu chapter hosted an “Exquisite Corpse Halloween Activity”, where attendees took phrase fragments and created chain fragments that would add to creating a story. Sigma Tau Delta was further immensely honored to receive the 2019 Student Organization Achievement Recognition (SOAR) Award for Excellence in Programming – Academic, Honorary, & Professional from the University of Miami’s Committee on Student Organizations. The Chapter’s Fall Induction Ceremony culminated the Semester, and after the Ceremony we held an enthusiastic Best Book Showdown, awarding the title to Shakespeare’s Hamlet. It was our Chapter’s honor to work in tandem with the English Department to facilitate a Livistona saribus Palm Tree planting in the UM Palmetum in loving memory of UM English Professor Robert Healy. 101 Alumni Hall. Following an appeal by the chapter, findings of responsibility were upheld and the organization is suspended through March 16, 2034 with an option after March 16, 2029 to petition for an earlier return to campus. We hosted a moderated discussion with the Haitian student organization known as Planet Kreyol, highlighting the experiences of Danticat and her family in her memoir, and the topics of war, immigration and death that took prominence in the book. We thank every person who attended or supported our events and activities throughout the semester. As the end of the semester approached and finals loomed ominously in the distance, the Phi Mu chapter hosted this semester’s induction ceremony. It was a pleasure to have the Sigma Iota Rho Honor Society for International Studies in attendance for A Novel Guess, and we thank them and our other guests for making our meeting so enjoyable.
