Twenty-six year Khaled Assar has been listed among the eight-man team named by the Egyptian Table Tennis Federation (ETTF) for the 2019 World Championship holding in Budapest, Hungary next month and having fought his way to the main draw of the 2019 ITTF Challenge Plus Oman Open, the Swedish-based star believes he has the wherewithal to make it to the last 16 in the men’s singles.

Already aware that he has to start his campaign from the preliminary stage, a confident Khaled Assar believes nothing is impossible in Budapest as he is aiming to make name for himself in his seventh appearance at the global fiesta.

“Playing at the Oman Open is one of my preparations for the World Championship and it was a good experience playing from the group to the main draw and I hope this kind of preparation would help to put me in shape for the Budapest challenge,” he said.

“There is no doubt that the best players in the world are the ones coming to Budapest and I am also aware that my campaign will start from the preliminary. I am hopeful that I can make a meaningful impact in Budapest by giving my best. My target is to make it to the last 16 which is possible with the right frame of mind going into the competition. This is one of big tournaments for me and I am eagerly looking forward to the party in Hungary,” Khaled Assar said.
